The Rotary Action Plan

Four priorities guide Rotary’s work over the next five years: increasing our impact, expanding our reach, enhancing participant engagement, and increasing our ability to adapt.

Pillar One

Increase Our Impact

Define, measure, track, and analyze service projects so Rotary can create lasting change.

Pillar Two

Expand Our Reach

Welcome more people into Rotary and create new ways for them to take action.

Pillar Three

Enhance Engagement

Create meaningful experiences that inspire people to stay involved and grow.

Pillar Four

Increase Our Ability to Adapt

Build a more flexible, innovative, and effective Rotary for a changing world.

Why this plan matters

Rotary’s Action Plan is about making our service stronger, our membership more welcoming, our experiences more meaningful, and our organization more ready for the future. In plain English: less drifting, more doing.

1. Increase Our Impact

Rotary seeks to define, measure, track, and analyze service projects so we can better understand our outcomes, improve project quality, and create lasting change.

Objectives:
  • Eradicate polio and leverage the legacy
  • Focus our programs and offerings
  • Improve our ability to achieve and measure impact

2. Expand Our Reach

Rotary aims to develop new and inspiring ways for people to engage, welcoming diverse participants and uniting them in service.

Objectives:
  • Grow and diversify membership and participation
  • Create new ways for participants to experience Rotary
  • Increase club flexibility and appeal
  • Build understanding of our impact and brand

3. Enhance Participant Engagement

Every interaction with Rotary should be meaningful, fulfilling, and valuable, whether someone is a long-time member, a volunteer, a donor, or a curious newcomer.

Objectives:
  • Support clubs to better engage their members
  • Improve understanding and support for individual participants
  • Offer opportunities for personal and professional connection
  • Provide learning opportunities for leadership development and skill building

4. Increase Our Ability to Adapt

Rotary is committed to becoming more efficient, representative, flexible, and effective while exploring new opportunities through innovation, evidence, and informed risk-taking.

Objectives:
  • Build a culture of research, innovation, and willingness to take risks
  • Streamline governance, structure, and processes
  • Foster more diverse perspectives in decision making
